The journey to the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) for Borderland United FC began with a pivotal conversation at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, California. https://premier.upsl.com/In January, Coach Alex shared his vision with the club’s leadership—a vision to create a semi-professional team that would offer a pathway for talented El Paso players to continue their soccer journey without leaving home. This idea quickly gained momentum, fueled by the passion and talent of local players.

What started as a single team soon expanded into two as word spread and more players joined. To develop the squad further, Borderland United FC entered two teams, Black and Yellow, into the Del Valle Soccer League. Competing in this Sunday league not only allowed the players to showcase their skills but also helped establish the club’s presence in the local soccer community.
A significant milestone came on June 14th, when Borderland United FC, still playing under the BVB International Academy El Paso Borderland, faced the El Paso Locomotive U23 team at Canutillo High School. The match drew an incredible turnout from fans and youth academy members, with young players enthusiastically supporting the first team—a testament to the unity and passion within the club.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Alex Alvarado and Assistant Coach Luis Montes, both of whom recently completed their UEFA C licenses, the team has been diligently preparing for the challenges ahead. Their commitment to player development and the success of the club has been inspiring.
As Borderland United FC looks forward, excitement continues to build. The official debut in the UPSL is set for September 8th, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the club. The road to UPSL has been paved with hard work, determination, and unwavering support from the community. The club is eager to compete at this level and continue building a legacy for soccer in the Borderland.
